L1 Art Visual

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Ms S. Smith

Students will learn to develop practical ideas through drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture using a thematic approach. They will formulate a body of work using artist models to inspire and inform their practical exploration of ideas.

Internal Standards: Are worth 4 and 6 credits each and these two standards are both a combination of research and practical work.

External Portfolio: This is a submission of practical work worth 12 credits in total and is externally assessed. Essentially, this folio is based on the work established in the Internals that are completed during the first two terms of the year.

The folio comprises of two A1 panels which show how students have used their chosen artist models and integrated them into their own work. The work must show a development and sequence of logical ideas which are investigated, developed and refined to produce finished conclusions.
