English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) provides curriculum classes and curriculum support for all students who are using English as a Second Language. All Second Language Learners (2LLs) are able to access this curriculum area if they need additional support in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing skills) to enable them to successfully engage with the wider mainstream and optional subjects in both the junior and senior school. 

NCEA unit standards in English Language at Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 are only available for students for whom English is an additional language. Before choosing subjects in this curriculum area, students will need to speak to the ESOL Department.
