Course Description

This course examines the role of the media in society, how the media constructs messages about individuals, communities, and cultures, plus how media products are produced, controlled and distributed. 

Students gain the knowledge and skills to conceive, plan, and design media products. L2 looks at radio, the film industry, and ethics. Students will produce their own short film.

This course will be assessed to a selection of L2 Media Studies Achievement Standards. Assessment is a combination of both internally and externally assessed standards. Students will have the opportunity to gain up to 23 credits at L2.

Required Prior Learning

To qualify for this course, students will ideally, have completed L1 Media Studies. However, entry is open to students who have attained three L1 English Internal Achievement Standards, and two out of three External English Achievement Standards.
