Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr K. Williams

This course aims to develop students’ abilities to interact with Māori speakers in familiar and social situations and cope with less familiar ones.

Students will be able to communicate about such things as Whanau, Kura, Hui, Famous People, Māori music and Events. They will be able to understand short stories, speak about themselves and write short stories. Students are expected to participate in at least one noho marae.

This course will be assessed to a selection of 30 L1 Te Reo Māori Achievement Standards. Assessment is a combination of both internally and externally assessed standards.
