Course Description

This course offers both a “hands-on” experience by maintaining an outdoor garden plot and by growing plants in the greenhouse, together with the opportunity to study some aspects of plant structure, propagation and management. 

Skills in plant husbandry will be developed together with an understanding of different aspects of Horticulture such as Amenity Horticulture and Landscape Design. Successful completion of the course will lead into L2HORT and also into industry at the entry level.

This course will be internally assessed to a selection of Achievement Standards and Unit Standards with students having the opportunity to gain up to 25 credits at L1.
