Course Description

This course concentrates on developing the skills of basic communication English, in a Supported Learning environment. 

Students will look to improve their reading comprehension through exposure to different written texts and to produce pieces of writing for different audiences and purposes. Also, students will participate in a number of spoken interactions. To gain an appreciation of texts, students will engage with a variety of written and visual material.

This course will produce naturally occurring evidence for the L1, Literacy Unit Standards. Successful completion of this course will result in 10 Literacy credits. This course is internally assessed.


Required Prior Learning


There is no automatic right of entry to this course. This course is for Supported Learning students. The students are selected by the HOD of Supported Learning and the HOD of the Learning Centre.
