Learning Centre

The Learning Centre provides for a range of students; those doing a correspondence school course, i.e.: a course of study not provided at Otumoetai College, and students who are identified as having specific learning needs. This covers a range, from gifted through to those with numeracy and/or literacy requirements. Inquiries regarding most able learners to be made to Mrs V Jeffares.

Students with suspected learning needs can be referred by parents and by the wider staff and assessed in the Learning Centre. Following assessment, recommendations are made as to what course of action would best meet their needs. Parents will be contacted well in advance if the school believes an independent diagnostic assessment of educational and cognitive ability is required to qualify for special assessment conditions.
