L3 Mathematics and Statistics
Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr N. McDermid.
This course is designed to prepare students for tertiary study which may involve Statistics. L3MATS is not designed to support attempting the Scholarship Statistics examination.
The course focuses on Research, Data Analysis and Interpretation. It will be useful for students interested in Business, Physical Education, Psychology or the Social Sciences.
Students can gain up to 21 credits. Students will be assessed to L3 Mathematics and Statistics Achievement Standards. Assessment is a combination of both internally and externally assessed standards.
Required Prior Learning
Students MUST have achieved at least 14 credits in NCEA L2 Mathematics and Statistics Standards. Students also need the approval of the HOD.
Subject Costs
The optional Learning Workbooks are highly recommended. Each one relates to a standard that the students are sitting. The TOTAL cost of these booklets is $20. You will be given the opportunity to purchase a set of these ESA Learning Workbooks at the start of the year. D&D Resources Revision books for External Assessments. These are optional, there is one book for this course, cost is $6

Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
