Course Description

This course is an introduction to Geography. Students will develop an understanding of the world around them as people interact with their environment. Students will develop geographic skills including critical thinking, cartographic skills and argument construction. 

Contexts covered include extreme natural events, population and resource issues in a world that is increasingly under pressure.

This course will be assessed to a selection of L1 Geography Achievement Standards. Assessment is a combination of both internally and externally assessed standards. Students will have the opportunity to gain up to 22 L1 credits.


Course Costs

Field trip to the Waitomo Caves: 1 day. Approx $120

Required Prior Learning

Entry is open, but subject to approval by the HOD and dependent on proven performance in Year 10 Social Studies.
