Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr K. Hansen.
This course allows students to explore the economic issues of economic growth, inflation and price stability impacts, and government policies that impact on society and the New Zealand economy.
The students’ statistical thinking, investigative and economic decision-making skills will be developed to enable cause and effect analysis. Students will also investigate how a current economic issue effects society.
This course will be assessed to NCEA L2 Economics Achievement Standards. Assessment is a combination of both internally and externally assessed standards. Students will have the opportunity to gain up to 18 NCEA credits at L2.
Required Prior Learning
Entry is subject to gaining any two external Achievement Standards in L1 Economics (90983, 90985, 90986). For students who did not take L1 Economics, entry is subject to gaining 12 credits in L1 English or Maths or another L1 Social Science course, or at the discretion of the HOD. Students do not need to have studied Economics previously to take this course.
